Mountain Development Scholarship | Climbing the Seven Summits
VARIABLES
1.1 The Mountain Development Scholarship is open to residents of Australia and New Zealand over the age of 18 only.
1.2 Commencement time: 09:00am Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST)
1.3 Commencement date: Monday 17 April 2023
1.4 Closing time: 23:59pm AEST
1.5 Closing date: Sunday 7 May 2023
1.6 Recipient Announced: 5:00pm AEST Monday 15 May 2023
WHO MAY ENTER
The only persons who may be nominated and be awarded prizes are those people specified in Condition 1.1 and who are not (i) employees of, or contractors to, the Promoter or any of its agencies involved with this competition; or (ii) members of the immediate family of such employees and contractors, including any spouse, parent, natural or adopted child, and sibling (whether natural or adopted by a parent), whether or not they live in the same household as the employee or /contractor. The competition is not open to persons under the age of 18. Persons must reside within Australia or New Zealand.
HOW TO ENTER
To submit a nomination, enter the required details into the nomination form here.
Nominations are deemed to be received at the time of receipt into the Promoter’s database. The Promoter is not responsible for receipt of incorrect, inaccurate, or incomplete information caused by an entrant or occurring during transmission. The Promoter is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction.
LIMITATIONS ON ENTRY
Multiple nominations are allowed per person (identified by email). Multiple entries per household are allowed.
DURATION
The competition commences at the time specified in Condition 1.2 on the date specified in Condition 1.3. Entries must be received by the time specified in Condition 1.4 on the date specified in Condition 1.5.
SELECTION OF RECIPIENT
There will be two (2) grant recipients selected from the total nomination database. The grant recipient will be selected by a panel from The North Face.
The Promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of nominations at any time during or after the promotional period and reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who tampers with the entry process or who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter is not responsible or liable for: (a.) inaccurate / incorrect transcription of entry information; (b.) purported entries that are not received for any reason, including because they were incorrectly uploaded or misdirected, or that are received, but are late, illegible, incomplete, or sent other than as directed in the entry instructions; (c.) unauthorised human intervention in any part of the competition; (d.) electronic or human error which may occur in the administration of the competition; (e.) any loss suffered or sustained, to person or property and including, but not limited to, consequential (including economic) loss by reason of any act or omission, deliberate or negligent, by the Promoter, or its servants or agents, in connection with the arrangement for supply, or the supply, of any goods or services by any person to a prize recipient and, where applicable, to any family/persons accompanying the recipient; or (f.) any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under either Promoter’s control); (g.) any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference. Promoter’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
RECIPIENT NOTIFICATION, PUBLICATION AND REDRAW
The grant recipient will be notified via email on Wednesday 10 May and announced by Monday 15 May. The recipient will be contacted via the email address which was entered into the nomination form. Despite the Promoter’s best efforts to contact the recipient or deliver a prize, if a prize remains unclaimed by 15 May 2023, then, the Promoter will select a new grant recipient. The new recipient will be notified by email on 15 May 2023.
PRIZE
The prize is up to the maximum value of $3,250:
- Participation in Australian Alpine Academy – Introduction to Mountaineering (valued at $1550) or All Women’s Australian Alpine Academy - Introduction to Mountaineering + Kosciuszko Climb (valued at $1750) based on preference and eligibility.
- 1 x $1000 Gift Voucher from The North Face
- If out of state and required; travel to/from Guthega including flights to Canberra/Sydney and car hire.
- 2 x nights’ accommodation pre/post course in Berridale or Cooma.
Prize includes transfers, guide, meals while on the expedition, safety equipment, and alpine camping equipment.
Unless expressly stated, all other expenses become the responsibility of the Prize Recipient.
The prize is only valid for the Australian Alpine Academy – Introduction to Mountaineering on 10th-13th August 2023, and the All Women’s Australian Alpine Academy - Introduction to Mountaineering + Kosciuszko Climb on 23rd-26th August 2023, and cannot be transferred to another season, another person or held in credit.
The recipients must sign an Assumption of Risk prior to participation in the trip.
The prize is not transferable, exchangeable, or redeemable for cash. All elements of the prize are subject to availability. Prize recipient will receive gift vouchers in the currency of their country of residence.
After the Promoter has sent the prize, the Promote is not responsible for prizes that have been lost, stolen, forged, damaged, or tampered with in any way. The Promoter will not be liable for any damage to or delay in transit of prizes.
PRIVACY AND COPYRIGHT
By entering the competition, the prize recipient agrees to the use of their name, image, videography and photograph/s for publicity and promotional purposes, without compensation, as The North Face and Climbing the Seven Summits see fit.
DISCLAIMER AND INDEMNITY
To the extent permitted at law, the Company and its related entities, officers, employees, contractors and agents disclaim any liability of any kind (including in contract, tort and breach of statutory duty) for loss, personal injury, death, property damage or otherwise that you may suffer yourself or cause to other persons or property as a result of any activities related to the prize that you undertake or commence, whether inspired by the Promoter or its related entities, officers, employees, contractors and agents, or otherwise. The prize recipient and their guests acknowledge their personal responsibility and knowingly and willingly assume the risks of associated with any activities related to the prize. The Promoter does not condone or encourage in any way the consumption of alcohol or use of illicit narcotics. The prize recipient and their guests agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Promoter and its related entities and officers for any and all claims, demands, suits, loss, damage, injury, and liability, including costs, expenses, and reasonable solicitors’ fees arising from, or in any way connected with, the prize. Subject to the approval process required by any relevant gaming or lotteries authority, in the event that any prize item is unavailable despite the Promoter’s reasonable endeavours, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute a different prize item of equal or greater value. Each entry becomes the property of the Promoter.
