Recipients of The North Face Adventure Grant 2016, Steve Skelton and Ben Dare, left for Peru in late May with three objectives in the Cordillera Blanca mountains of Peru. Their objectives included the southwest ridge of Chacraraju from the Paron Valley, the central couloir of Caraz II and a new line of rock and ice on the Taulliraju east face.
With ski and board, Fraser McDougall and Roland Morley-Brown head into the Chugach Mountains of Alaska, with a plan to scout lines from sea level up. They travel by boat, hike through thick brush and when skunked with a rising snow line and unpredictable AK weather, turn to the last pilot in Valdez to take them higher.
The North Face Frontier – a Freeride World Qualifier event – welcomes skiers and snowboarders to a freeride festival at Queenstown’s The Remarkables Ski Field from 22-27 August. Formerly known as The North Face Freeski Open of NZ, in 2016 The North Face Frontier will add some exciting new elements.
