The North Face 100 Training Camps

Over the last few months we have held three different camps for aspiring The North Face 100km and 50km athletes.  Held at the Leura Waldorf, these camps have exposed our athletes to the race course and key principles surrounding nutrition, hydration, training, tapering, mandatory gear and checkpoint techniques.  We also seem to have exposed our athletes to the joys of running in the rain and how to efficiently remove leeches from trail running shoes.  Our secret... carry a salt shaker on race day!

The 6 FootTrack has been on my Bucket List for some time.  Over the years a series of circumstances have seen me enter the race but not compete.  Whilst 2014 sees my focus on the World Orienteering Championships in Italy in July, I was determined to run and love this race.  From all the accounts I had read, the course would suit my strengths – physically tough but still a running race.   And in post-race reflection, I can see it did.
